Even though he’s turning 34 years old, Paul George remains an elite wing in the NBA right now. For the nine-time All-Star, though, he feels that his jersey should be retired by the Los Angeles Clippers or Indiana Pacers once his career in the league is done.
After a standout two-year run with Fresno State, George entered the NBA as the Indiana Pacers’ 10th overall pick in the 2010 Draft. It wasn’t until the 2012-13 season when the 6’8″ wing burst out onto the scene to win the Most Improved Player with averages of 17.4 points on 36 percent shooting from deep, 7.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.8 steals per contest.
In 2017, George was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder to form an elite duo with All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook. Two seasons after, he was traded again to the Los Angeles Clippers to team up with two-time NBA champion Kawhi Leonard.
George has spent five years playing for the Clippers with averages of 23.0 points on almost 40 percent shooting from beyond the perimeter, 6.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Moreover, he has a $48.7 million player option for next season, which means that the All-Star wing can opt out and sign with another team as a free agent.
With his time in Los Angeles possibly coming to an end, George talked about where he prefers his jersey to be retired. In a video clip shared by Law Murray on X:
Paul George shared his hope that his jersey would be retired by Pacers and Clippers, acknowledging that it’s a franchise decision while adding that he doesn’t think he was in OKC long enough for that consideration

Among George’s accomplishments during his combined time with the Pacers and Clippers include leading Indiana to the Conference Finals twice, being selected to seven All-Star Games, and four All-NBA teams, among others.
It remains to be seen whether Indiana and Los Angeles will retire his jersey once everything is said and done. The nine-time All-Star wing still has time to strengthen his case, though, in the coming season and beyond.
