The Philadelphia 76ers may have found more than just a complementary piece in VJ Edgecombe. Could they have landed their next franchise cornerstone? Following Philadelphia’s late push into the postseason, Paul George delivered a resounding endorsement that turned heads across the league. Speaking on the PHLY Sixers podcast, the nine-time All-Star didn’t hesitate when describing the rookie’s trajectory.

“He’s an all-around superstar,” George said, pointing to Edgecombe’s curiosity, work ethic, and ability to dissect the game.

What began as a hopeful addition with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft has quickly evolved into something far more impactful. Edgecombe has proven to be a dynamic, two-way force. He has seamlessly fit alongside stars like Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. For a roster built to win now, Edgecombe’s rapid rise has provided both immediate production and long-term security.

That growth has been anything but theoretical, too. Edgecombe’s 2025-26 campaign has been defined by tangible, high-level output in big moments. He captured the 2026 Rising Stars Challenge MVP and delivered multiple statement performances. Those include a 38-point outburst against the Sacramento Kings and a polished 23-point, 10-assist showing versus the Washington Wizards.

His impact has extended into the postseason as well. In a pivotal 109-97 Play-In win over the Orlando Magic, Edgecombe rose to the occasion in Embiid’s absence. He posted a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double to secure the No. 7 seed and a first-round matchup with the Boston Celtics.

For George, the “superstar” label isn’t just projection. Rather, it’s recognition. And for Philadelphia, it’s validation that they didn’t just draft for potential. This kid may be a home run.
