The San Antonio Spurs are 5-0 for the first time in franchise history.

The San Antonio Spurs are coming off a 107-101 victory over the Miami Heat as Victor Wembanyama led the way with another outstanding performance.

The 21-year-old had 27 points, 18 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks on 10-for-23 shooting from the field.

The Spurs’ young core has been clicking and with Wembanyama looking dominant and having a winners’ mentality, San Antonio looks like a legit contender in the Western Conference.

Paul Pierce says the San Antonio Spurs might have to trade De’Aaron Fox

The remarkable part about the Spurs’ success to this point is it has all come without their starting point guard De’Aaron Fox.

Fox continues to deal with a right hamstring strain. He suffered the injury during summer workouts in late July or early August.

The Spurs signed Fox to a four-year, $229 million contract extension this past summer.

Paul Pierce suggested that if the Spurs don’t play well when Fox comes back, they might have to look at trading him.

“They playing well without him. If he come back and they stop playing well, it’s pressure…

“If I’m the GM, I’m looking at us right now, we can really make a run, I might need to trade Fox and get another veteran at another position, another big. I like my young guards, I need them to develop. They on the same timeline as Wemby.

“I’m not in no rush to win it, but if we get halfway through the season and the Spurs is in the top two or three, maybe we could win it with this Wembanyama kid right now, he’s dynamic.”

Danny Green also implies the San Antonio Spurs should part ways with De’Aaron Fox if they don’t need him

San Antonio’s early season success has people questioning if they even need Fox.

They have their point guard of the future waiting in the wings in rookie Dylan Harper, who has played very well to start the season.

Danny Green shared the same sentiment as Pierce and said that if the Spurs don’t end up needing Fox, they might have to make a decision.

“You pay a guy that sort of money you don’t want to let him go readily, you want to give him time.

“But if you don’t need him, you know what the business entails.

“If we got guys who are cheaper playing at a max level, we can save the money.”

It will be interesting to see how the Spurs look once Fox returns to the mix.
