Paul Pierce SLAMS Clippers for taking on James Harden’s ‘moody’ personality after Mavs blowout win
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Clippers fell hard in Game 5, as the Mavericks now lead the series, 3-2. James Harden and Paul George had the worst game of the series so far, shooting well below their averages. Harden finished the game with 7 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds while going 2-12 from the field. On the other hand, PG had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the night, also struggling from the field.

Looking at how things played out for the Clippers in Game 5, Paul Pierce believes that the team has picked up Harden’s personality. The Clippers were head-to-head against the Mavs in the first four games. However, Harden and company faced a 30-point blowout following their win on the road. Pierce also commented on the win margins that led up to Game 5.

On one hand, you see one night, they look like they can be in the Western Conference Finals, and then another night they stink up the gym. It's like this team is so moody, It's almost like a front runners mentality. When things are going well, they go well... I just don't know, just mentality wise who this team is... It's like, the highs and lows from James Harden, it's like they've taken on his personality. Paul Pierce said on Undisputed

Ever since the Clippers introduced Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, they’ve gone as far as the Conference Finals in 2021, without Leonard. Last year, the Clippers were eliminated in the first round by the Suns. The team hasn’t had much success in the postseason while having three of the most elite scorers in the league.

James Harden made a bizarre playoff record following Game 5 loss

With just seven points under his name in Game 5, James Harden shot 16.7% from the field. Harden now has the most playoff games shooting less than 20% from the field, with 11 of them. Just about six years ago, Harden was putting up 35+ points a game with his signature step-back three, which seemed unguardable then.

Going into Game 5, Harden averaged 26 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds on 50% shooting from deep and 54% shooting from the field. The Beard has been a crucial scorer for the Clippers with Leonard sidelined due to injury. With the series on the line, the Clippers will look to force Game 7 on the road.

Harden and PG will have the most load in the next game. If the Clippers fall in Game 7, it would not only be the Lakers with several questions around them but both teams in LA. It will be interesting to see how the Clippers manage to hold off Luka Doncic and company on Friday.
