Philadelphia 76ers Emerge as ‘Interested Suitor’ for Donovan Mitchell Trade Amid Cavaliers Trade Rumors
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia 76ers news: Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey proved this past season that they are a bona fide superstar duo that will be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come. You could also argue, however, that the Sixers may be in need of a third star to take them over the edge.

Apparently, that could come in the form of Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell.

Philadelphia 76ers News: Sixers Interested in Donovan Mitchell

At the moment, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Mitchell’s future with the Cavs. Both camps are reportedly working toward an extension and the Cavaliers, in particular, remain confident that they will be able to find common ground with their cornerstone superstar.

However, until Mitchell signs on the dotted line, you can be sure that teams from around the league will be watching this situation closely. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the 76ers are one of these teams:

“Without an extension with the Cavaliers, you can add Philadelphia to any proverbial group of interested suitors in Mitchell’s services, sources said,” Fischer wrote.

It is unclear what type of trade package the Sixers will need to conjure up in order to get their hands on Mitchell. After all, if the Cavs are left with no other choice but to part ways with the five-time All-Star, then there is no doubt that they will demand a major haul in a potential blockbuster trade.

Acquiring Mitchell will cost Philly dearly, but it’s the kind of landscape-shifting move that could be too good to pass up.
