After hitting a game-winning shot to give the Philadelphia 76ers a huge win, VJ Edgecombe showed why he is the future of the franchise.
One of the best draft picks in the NBA this year has been the Philadelphia 76ers landing VJ Edgecombe with the #3 overall pick.
The 76ers only picked VJ Edgecombe because Ace Bailey tanked his draft stock with his demands. But after seeing his strong start, the 76ers will be thankful they made the right decision.
VJ Edgecombe quickly gave Cooper Flagg competition in the Rookie of the Year race, putting on excellent performances for the 76ers.
Edgecombe’s rise has put Joel Embiid’s position as the 76ers’ face in jeopardy. And now, after his latest comments, Philly fans will love him even more!
VJ Edgecombe spoke to reporters after the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Memphis Grizzlies. Despite the immense pressure, the Bahamian rookie was extremely calm.
Edgecombe admitted that he isn’t scared of the big moments and was ready to take on the challenge of taking the last shot because of the trust his coaches and teammates have shown in him.
“The moment is never too big for me. It’s never too big. I was ready. I barely played the first half because I got in foul trouble.
“I got myself back in, but that’s how it goes. Coach trusted me to make plays, and that’s what I do…”
Ever since VJ Edgecombe arrived on the Philadelphia 76ers, there has been a lot of talk about the future of the team and whether they should move on from their current crop of veteran superstars.
There were concerns that Paul George would lose his spot to Edgecombe, given that they both are a similar profile and play the same positions.
However, the 76ers have made things work so far and find themselves in a decent position, especially heading into the second half of the season.
Should this campaign end without the 76ers making significant playoff progress, however, the 76ers should consider cashing in on the value of Joel Embiid and Paul George.
