Kyle Lowry took his time before eventually agreeing to run it back with the Philadelphia 76ers for another season. The one-time NBA champ opted to re-sign with the Sixers in free agency on a one-year deal as he looks to play a crucial role alongside Philly’s newly-formed Big 3.
One of the teams that Lowry was linked to this summer, though, was the New York Knicks. However, the six-time All-Star himself dropped a truth bomb about the Knicks never really being an option for him in the first place.
In a recent celebrity golf tournament, Lowry’s introduction included a jab about the 38-year-old opting not to join the Knicks this summer as part of the Villanova contingent. In case you missed it, New York now has four ex-Wildcats stars on their roster after they successfully brought in Mikal Bridges to play alongside Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo.
Naturally, there were some folks who thought that Lowry, a fellow Nova product, would have followed suit. According to the 6-foot point guard himself, however, the Knicks were never actually interested in him:
“They didn’t want me,” Lowry said.

You just have to love Lowry for never pulling back on his punches — even when it’s him who’s on the receiving end of the same.
He will get a chance to face off against the Villanova Knicks multiple times this coming season so perhaps there could be a bit of a revenge narrative brewing there.
