Philadelphia 76ers Linked to Sensational Paul George Swoop Amid Los Angeles Clippers Exit Rumors
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia 76ers news: Los Angeles Clippers superstar Paul George will not have a shortage of suitors should he suddenly become available. According to reports, the Clippers “remain hopeful that George will end up signing an extension with LA as opposed to becoming an unrestricted free agent this summer (he currently has a player option for 2024-25).

However, up and until George signs a new deal, you can be sure that rival teams will be closely monitoring George’s situation with the Clippers. Apparently, the 76ers are one of those teams.

Philadelphia 76ers Linked to Major Move for Clippers’ Paul George

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, and Miami Heat are teams to watch if and when a George sweepstakes commences. Despite interest from multiple sides, however, Fischer points out that the Sixers also have a legitimate shot at potentially landing the nine-time All-Star:

“For all those complications, Philadelphia does have the cleanest path to making George a new home . The Sixers are willing to spend future money and sacrifice draft capital, league sources told Yahoo Sports, in the name of chasing next year’s title. George has been on (general manager Daryl Morey’s) radar since the executive’s time running the Rockets, sources said, when Houston personnel were more than aware of George’s affinity for ending up in Los Angeles — where his parents now regularly sit courtside for his games,” Fischer wrote.

It is likely that George’s potential road to Philly will involve a sign-and-trade deal. As Fischer wrote, however, the Sixers appear to be willing to risk it all for a chance to form a Big 3 of George, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey.

Philadelphia’s championship window on Embiid is running out and at this point, it seems that the mantra for this side is that it’s now or never.
