The Philadelphia 76ers find themselves in a tough spot coming out of the All-Star break. They are 20-34 and 11th in the East.
A play-in push is still possible, especially with the Chicago Bulls on a downward trajectory after trading Zach LaVine.
But one has to accept that this season has been far below expectations for the Sixers. They were expected to be in Championship contention. Instead, they are now scrambling for a play-in spot while Joel Embiid and Paul George continue to struggle to remain fit, and in the case of the latter, perform.
The 76ers do not seem to be giving up hope though. Instead, they have now made another addition to their roster.
According to Shams Charania, Lonnie Walker IV has agreed to a two-year, $3 million deal with the 76ers. He has played for Zalgiris Kaunas in the Euroleague and had an NBA-out in his deal.
The 76ers will be Walker's fourth team in the NBA. He has already played for the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets.
In fact, it is a bit surprising that he was not in the league at 26 years of age. In the past, he has proven himself to be a solid scoring option off the bench and even a decent occasional starter for the Spurs and the Lakers.
Someone like Walker could be a decent pickup for the Sixers that is for sure. The reaction to his addition has been mostly positive. That being said, we are not sure how much he will truly move the needle for this struggling 76ers team.
