Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant could be dealt to a new team any day now, as the expectation is that he will be moved by the NBA Draft.
After nearly being traded at the deadline, without warning, it was clear that Durant and the Suns would be up for a divorce this offseason.
While Durant has a shortlist of teams he prefers to land with -- that being the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat -- the Suns have made it clear they're going to take the best package for themselves.
Phoenix still has Devin Booker, their franchise superstar, in his prime years. Bringing in draft picks in a Durant trade will open more roster flexibility, but adding players who can contribute now is important, too.
There are reportedly six to eight teams staying engaged in talks to land Durant, which means the Suns can very well find the most suitable trade package.
With this news emerging, it's been reported by Jake Fischer that the Suns are also doing their homework on Boston Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis.
“I’ve also heard that Phoenix has done some background work on Kristaps Porzingis with Boston known to be exploring its trade options up and down the roster," Fischer reports.

The Celtics, with Jayson Tatum set to miss the entirety of next season, could very well move on from players like Porzingis, as the Latvian star is set to make just north of $30 million in the final year of his deal.
The Suns, who are aiming to upgrade their big man position, could add Porzingis alongside Booker.
By trading Durant to a team that nets Phoenix the strongest return, they could have the ammunition to wiggle their way to landing Porzingis this offseason.
Whether it be an expanded deal involving both the Suns and Celtics, along with a Durant suitor -- or not -- there are complex ways the Suns could use a return in a trade for the 15-time All-Star to add the star big man.
Porzingis helped the Celtics win the title in 2024. However, with the team set to suffer a setback next season as he enters the final year of his contract, it could make sense for Boston to consider moving him.
