Phoenix Suns get back on track with Booker’s solid night against Trail Blazers

The Suns seemingly wanted to have a fast pace early on offense and were able to do so without a true PG. Dillon Brooks and Booker were able to run the offense early, though the absence of a true facilitator loomed large. The early struggles of shooting on the road went away early in the first quarter, though they came back in the second quarter. Second-chance baskets let Portland back in it after a late surge at the end of the first half. Although, Phoenix was able to maintain its lead by a score of 64 to 61, highlighted by 13 points by Devin Booker in the first half and an early sharpshooting effort from Royce O’Neale.

The Suns started the third quarter off with a 12-0 run and built off of smart mid-range shots and aggressive defense, as Phoenix also had 12 steals in the beginning of the second half. Mark Williams set the tone early in the first half and did the same in the second as well for Phoenix by attacking the rim after finding open space. Outscoring Portland 36-21 in the third quarter set up Phoenix nicely the rest of the way.

Phoenix kept their foot on the gas pedal as in the fourth quarter they ended up rallying behind Devin Booker’s 19 points to lead the Suns to a late night win. For Suns fans, the win on Tuesday night shows that this roster can forget about the past and focus on the future, as the team looked completely ready to move on after the loss to Atlanta. It was more than just a good team win; it was something worth building off of.
