Phoenix Suns fans will likely want to put this past season behind them as soon as possible.
After being swept out of the NBA Playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2024, the Suns failed to live up to even that mark, finishing 36-46 and as the No. 11 seed in the Western Conference.
It seemed as though the Suns could never get into a rhythm with each other. The chemistry, particularly on defense, was alarmingly low.
As a result of the disappointing season, the Suns decided to fire head coach Mike Budenholzer.
That wasn't the only move: The Suns also promoted general manager James Jones to a senior advisory role and installed Brian Gregory.
Gregory was an assistant coach for the Michigan State Spartans while owner Mat Ishbia was a player there.
Once the Suns took care of the general manager position, which some didn't believe needed addressing, they opened up their search for a new head coach.
John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Phoenix provided an update regarding the search.
"Second round of interviews for Suns head coaching job just finished up - most still on zoom," wrote Gambadoro. "In next day or two finalists will be told and in person meetings scheduled."

As far as who the Suns choose to hire remains to be seen.
Names such as David Fizdale, an assistant coach under Frank Vogel and Mike Budenholzer, or an up-and-coming coach like Sean Sweeney, have been the names thrown around.
The Suns will have plenty of other decisions to make in the coming months, so gaining stability at the pivotal position is critical.
