The Phoenix Suns are desperate to get rid of Bradley Beal if recent reports are to be believed. The three-time NBA All-Star is coming off another down year (by his lofty standards) and will earn roughly $53.7 million next season.
Phoenix Suns reporter John Gambadoro recently explained how the team views Beal, who is slowly approaching the twilight of his professional career since he’ll turn 32 in a few weeks.
“They do NOT want him back. But he is untradable and if he does not agree to a buyout they may be stuck with him,” Gambadoro posted on X (formerly known as Twitter). “One of the questions they asked candidates during the coaching cycle was what you would do with Beal. They 100% don’t want him and are looking at how to get out.”
As Gambadoro noted, the Phoenix Suns find it difficult to move Beal because of his no-trade clause, which allows him to veto any potential trade the team makes for him if he wants to.
In case you missed it, the Phoenix Suns recently announced the appointment of Jordan Ott as the team’s new head coach. Ott has been an NBA assistant since 2012 and has recently worked for the Cleveland Cavaliers. In hiring him, Phoenix will have their fourth different coach in the last four seasons.
Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro said that Devin Booker played a huge role in Ott’s hiring. The long-time reporter also commended Ott for his work ethic and strong communication skills.
“What they liked about Ott was work ethic/drive and a different level of sophistication with his offensive system than the other candidates. Got seal of approval from Devin Booker. And Steve Nash had very positive feedback as well,” Gambadoro said about Ott.
