The Phoenix Suns extended their strong January run with a 126–117 win over the Brooklyn Nets, powered by a balanced scoring display led by Dillon Brooks, Devin Booker, and Collin Gillespie. Brooklyn fought back behind Michael Porter Jr. and Terance Mann but could not overcome defensive lapses that defined their latest loss.
Phoenix maintained control from start to finish, shooting an impressive 57.1 percent from the field while limiting Brooklyn to 50.6 percent. Dillon Brooks delivered his best offensive outing of the season, scoring 27 points on 6-of-9 from three-point range. He added his 14th technical foul in the process, underscoring his intensity in what became a wire-to-wire win for Phoenix. Devin Booker was efficient as ever, adding 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting, while Collin Gillespie contributed 22 points off the bench, hitting five of his seven attempts from deep.
Brooklyn, now 12–29, struggled to contain Phoenix’s perimeter movement and switch-heavy offense. The Suns improved to 26–17, continuing their climb up the Western Conference standings.
Despite the loss, the Nets showed flashes of improved cohesion. Terance Mann set the tone early as a facilitator, recording seven assists in the first half. Michael Porter Jr. shouldered the offensive load with 23 points, though his 2-of-10 from three-point range line highlighted the team’s inconsistent spacing. Brooklyn fought back from an early 0–7 start and briefly cut the deficit to single digits in the fourth quarter but lacked the defensive stops to sustain momentum.
Returning from illness, Ziaire Williams spoke candidly about regaining rhythm and the team’s collective mindset. “I’m just grateful just to be out here. Woke up one morning feeling fine, and then I ended up sick, and missing games, and it was just a reminder of just how anything can be taken away from you at any time…I missed playing with these guys,” he said.
Williams added perspective on Brooklyn’s ongoing development: “We just got to start better. We start off 0–7 and we figured it out, but even with tonight, we came up just short. It’s all a growing process, growing pains, and the best part is, we have a full locker room of guys who want to win and want to compete at the highest level.”
Brooklyn remains focused on building chemistry as they prepare for a difficult upcoming schedule. With Cam Thomas and Day’Ron Sharpe still sidelined, head coach Jordan Ott is expected to continue experimenting with rotations. The Nets’ ability to find defensive consistency will determine whether they can climb out of the Eastern Conference’s lower tier in the weeks ahead.
