Pistons Announce Brutal Isaiah Stewart Injury Update Amid Losing Streak
Mike Watters-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Pistons announced that big man Isaiah Stewart will miss 10-to-14 days with a right great toe sprain.

Stewart did not play last night against the Boston Celtics.

The Pistons have lost 28 games in a row. They are only 2-29 on the season.

Stewart is averaging 10.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.6 blocks for the Pistons this season while shooting 47.2% from the field, 39.8% from beyond the arc and 74.5% from the free-throw line. He is sixth on the team in points per game, third in rebounds per game and third in blocks per game.

The Pistons signed Stewart to a four-year, $60 million extension in July. The extension kicks in next season. Stewart is making $5.3 million this season. He’ll make $15 million in 2024-25.

Stewart has career averages of 9.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.4 steals and 1.0 blocks with the Pistons. He was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 16th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Washington. The Blazers traded Stewart to the Houston Rockets, who then sent the big man to the Pistons.

The Celtics, Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder are interested in acquiring Stewart from the Pistons, according to NBA insider James L. Edwards III of The Athletic. Thus far, Detroit has shown no interest in trading Stewart.

The entire NBA world is waiting to see when the Pistons will win a game again. The team hasn’t won a game since October 28 against the Chicago Bulls.
