The Detroit Pistons have taken control of the Eastern Conference early in the 2025–26 season, currently holding a 16–4 record. A huge reason for the team’s strong start has been the consistent play of their big man, Jalen Duren.
The 22-year-old center has appeared in 17 games, posting 19.5 points, 11.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks while shooting 65.4% from the field and 76.4% from the free-throw line. His combination of size, athleticism and efficiency around the rim has made him one of the most reliable interior presences in the league.
Duren is now in his fourth season with Detroit and he has been central to the franchise’s turnaround over the past two years.
As the Pistons prepare for Monday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, Duren’s availability has been a lingering question. He missed Friday’s road matchup against the Miami Heat after being ruled out with a lower left leg contusion. Despite his absence, Detroit still managed to secure a win over a strong opponent.
On Sunday, the Pistons announced their latest injury report and upgraded Duren’s status to probable for Monday’s contest in Atlanta (h/t Hunter Patterson of The Athletic).
The designation signals that the injury is not considered serious and is unlikely to force a prolonged absence, with Duren expected to return to the starting lineup.
Jalen Duren (left leg contusion) and Caris LeVert (right knee soreness) are probable for the Pistons’ matchup against the Hawks tomorrow.

Duncan Robinson (right ankle sprain) is questionable. Marcus Sasser is listed as out due to return to competition reconditioning.
Lower leg injuries can often be tricky for big men, making the “probable” designation especially reassuring for Detroit. The Pistons’ medical staff has been cautious with Duren, fully aware that his long-term health is vital to sustaining a playoff push. In past seasons, the team struggled when key contributors missed extended time, so his return carries added importance.
Beyond the injury, Duren has become a symbol of Detroit’s rebuild paying off, with his growth mirroring the franchise’s rise in the standings. His continued development could even put him in the conversation for an All-Star selection this season.
On the court, his presence anchors the defense and controls the glass, creating second-chance opportunities that fuel the offense. His chemistry with Cade Cunningham and Ausar Thompson has elevated the team’s overall play, while his absence against Miami forced others to step up, showcasing Detroit’s depth.
With Duren likely back, the Pistons have a strong chance to win a second straight game and build a new winning streak.
