Pistons' first win of 2024 ironically came against Kyle Kuzma's Wizards

The Detroit Pistons have finally won a game in 2024, and surprisingly enough, the win came even though they were severely undermanned.

It took 15 days and eight games, but now at least the Pistons can say that they've won a game this year.

When you only have four wins on the season and your superstar player — Cade Cunningham — is out with an injury, every positive counts. The Pistons know more than most that the losses can really add up.

Veteran guard Alec Burks came off the bench and scored 34 points to lead Detroit to a 129-117 win over the Washington Wizards. Second-year center Jalen Duren notched 20 points and 19 rebounds while second-year combo guard Jaden Ivey added 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Notably, not only were the Pistons without Cunningham (22.8 points, 7.3 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game) but veteran sharpshooter Bojan Bogdanovic (19.8 points per game) was also out with a left calf injury.

It's also notable that Detroit's fourth win of the 82-game season came against Kyle Kuzma's Wizards.

Kuzma had trolled the Pistons earlier on in the season, insinuating that nobody wanted to be the team to lose to the notoriously putrid Detroit squad.

Detroit's next game comes at home against the Northwest Division-leading Minnesota Timberwolves, so a return to losing form is likely on the way for the Pistons.
