Pistons' Marvin Bagley suffers non-contact knee injury

Seconds into the Detroit Pistons' preseason battle with the Oklahoma City Thunder, young power forward Marvin Bagley III slipped on the floor and came down clutching his right knee.

Teammates helped Bagley to the locker room immediately after he hit the court. The severity of the injury is unclear, but any time there is a non-contact injury - particularly one that leaves the player in obvious pain - the Pistons may fear for the worst.

The Sacramento Kings picked Bagley No. 2 in the 2018 draft, one pick ahead of Luka Doncic. He made the All-Rookie Team in 2018-19, but missed most of his second season with injuries. The Kings couldn't reach an extension with Bagley after three years, and dealt him to the Pistons at mid-season. Bagley enjoyed a resurgence with Detroit, averaging 14.6 points and 6.8 rebounds in 18 games, and signed a three-year contract with the Pistons following the season.

Should Bagley miss significant time, Detroit may need to rely on 19-year-old rookie Jalen Duren, a lottery pick from the University of Memphis.
