Pistons owner Tom Gores hints at big changes
Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Detroit Pistons owner Tom Gores spoke with the media on Thursday night and hinted at big changes coming.

Gores’ Pistons lost to the Clippers to fall to 12-23 on the season. The Pistons were one of the strongest teams in the East during the 2000s and won a championship, but they spent most of the last decade as an afterthought, only making the playoffs twice. They went 41-41 last season and got swept by the Bucks in the first round of the playoffs.

Last season’s performance and the start to this season has Gores thinking he might want to rebuild.

The takeaway from Gores’ comments seemed to be that he is considering a rebuild in order to make the organization more competitive down the line.

Pistons fans may groan over this possibility, but they are probably used to the mediocrity from the franchise and may be willing to put up with more losing if that means a turnaround is ahead.
