The New York Knicks will enter the 2025-26 NBA season with high expectations as they are expected to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

Of course, the Knicks made a run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season before they were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers and they are looking to make another deep playoff run this season.

For the Knicks, their core of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Josh Hart are all returning this season and they also made some key additions to their roster this summer.

New York signed Jordan Clarkson, Guerschon Yabusele and Landry Shamet in free agency to upgrade their bench, which was a problem area for them last season.

The Knicks also hired Mike Brown as their new head coach as he replaces Tom Thibodeau after they made the shocking decision to fire him after their playoff exit last season.

With these moves, the Knicks are looking to make a run at a championship this season, though they could also make more moves ahead of the trade deadline.

Knicks Could Target Giannis Antetokounmpo

One player the Knicks have been linked to over the past few seasons is Giannis Antetokounmpo and if he becomes available this season, they could make a move for him.

Of course, Giannis’ future with the Milwaukee Bucks has been in question, though the superstar forward has elected to stay in Milwaukee to start this season, though that could change.

Mock Trade Sends Giannis to Knicks, 2 Stars to Bucks

In a potential trade, the Knicks could send Anunoby, Bridges and multiple first-round picks to the Bucks in exchange for Giannis and Gary Trent Jr.

While moving both Anunoby and Bridges would be a tough decision for the Knicks to make, adding one of the top players in the NBA in Giannis could make them into title favorites this season.

Giannis would give the Knicks a dominant scorer and defender who would be a massive upgrade to their frontcourt alongside Towns.

Last season, the 30-year-old star averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 60.1% from the field and 22.2% from three.

By adding Giannis alongside Brunson and Towns, along with their improved depth, the Knicks could become the new title favorite this season and for many seasons to come.

Despite this, Giannis may elect to stay with the Bucks this season and if he does demand a trade, another team could outbid the Knicks for him.
