The Bucks have opted to forgo a qualifying offer for forward Ousmane Dieng, reports Michael Scotto of HoopsHype (Twitter link). Although the move will make Dieng an unrestricted free agent, Milwaukee still has “significant” interest in working out a deal with the former 11th overall pick, Scotto notes.
Dieng never cracked the Thunder’s regular rotation, but he got a chance to play for the Bucks after being traded to Milwaukee in February and flashed some intriguing upside down the stretch. The 23-year-old averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 26.8 minutes per game over the course of 30 contests (20 starts) in Milwaukee.
Dieng’s qualifying offer would have been worth $8.77MM, so the Bucks may want to try to negotiate a more team-friendly deal rather than risk having him accept that QO, gain an implicit no-trade clause for the season, and reach unrestricted free agency in 2027.
We have more qualifying offer decisions from around the NBA:
- Dieng wasn’t the only 2022 lottery pick not to get a qualifying offer from his team today. The Nets also passed on an $8.77MM QO for swingman Ochai Agbaji, the former No. 14 overall pick, according to Scotto (Twitter link). Agbaji and forward Jalen Wilson, who wasn’t tendered a $3MM QO, will be headed to unrestricted free agency after playing reserve roles for Brooklyn to finish the season.
- Reigning dunk contest champion Keshad Johnson didn’t receive a qualifying offer from the Heat on Monday and will become an unrestricted free agent, Kelly Iko of The Athletic confirms (via Twitter). Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun Sentinel, who initially reported that Johnson was unlikely to get a QO, says the 6’6″ forward has been invited to play in Summer League and remains a candidate for a two-way deal with Miami (Twitter links).
- The Magic have issued center Colin Castleton a two-way qualifying offer, making him a restricted free agent, a league source tells Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel (Twitter link). Castleton only appeared in four games for Orlando in 2025/26, but he previously suited up for four other teams from 2023-25, seeing action in 42 contests. He’s entering his final year of two-way eligibility.
- Like Castleton, Mavericks center Moussa Cisse has received a qualifying offer that would be the equivalent of another one-year, two-way deal, tweets Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News. Cisse was part of Dallas’ frontcourt rotation for stretches of last season, averaging 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 13.9 minutes per game across 38 appearances.
