Quentin Grimes' 46-Point Explosion Sparks Mavericks Troll Job

Quentin Grimes delivered the best game of his career on Tuesday night, erupting for 46 points, 13 rebounds and four assists in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 144-137 loss to the Houston Rockets.

The 24-year-old guard, acquired by the Sixers in February, shot an impressive 15-of-27 from the field while adding two steals and a block. His stat line placed him in elite company—only Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum and Paolo Banchero have posted at least 46-13-4 in at least one game this season, according to Sam DiGiovanni of ClutchPoints.

However, despite his monster performance, the Sixers fell short.

Still, Quentin Grimes' performance reminded fans how the Dallas Mavericks traded him after also dealing Luka Doncic away.

The Mavericks, who sent Grimes away prior to the trade deadline, became the target of trolling from NBA fans after watching the guard's explosive night. Social media was quickly filled with sarcastic remarks and pointed criticisms.

"Another epic L for the Mavs. Quentin Grimes keeps exploding. 46 points. Strange to just let him go," one fan posted.

Others followed suit, with one stating, "Mavs fans in shambles if they watch the Grimes highlights from tonight."

"Mavs traded away Grimes, Luka, Brunson and Porzingis. Terrible," mentioned one viewer, while another added, "Grimes’ 46-piece? Mavs fans, I am sorry."

The frustration only escalated with another tweet reading, "Mavs trading Grimes looks worse than trading Luka."

Some even called for front-office changes, with one fan declaring, "After the Mavs fire Nico for trading Luka, they need to fire him again for trading Grimes."

Grimes' recent hot streak with the Sixers makes Dallas' decision look increasingly questionable. While the Mavs remain focused on their own postseason push, Grimes is proving that letting him go may have been a costly mistake.
