Draft day is almost here, and it is a monumental day for the Alamo City. The Spurs currently hold the second and 14th picks in the 2025 NBA Draft and have a multitude of options. With the second pick, the Spurs are more than likely taking the prolific freshman from Rutgers, Dylan Harper, but at 14, all doors are open.
What the Spurs decide to do at 14 could change everything. With a blossoming core of youngsters on the roster and a superstar at the helm, a welcomed role player or future star at pick 14 could elevate the Spurs to the heights they desperately desire. The prospect pool in this year’s draft is bubbling with talent and gives the Spurs a wide variety of players to choose from. Let’s break down the best options for the Spurs with the 14th overall pick.
College journeyman Cedric Coward knocked the socks off NBA scouts in just six games this past collegiate season. A shoulder injury derailed what was an amazing breakout season, but what he did in those games has solidified his NBA status. The Washington State product can score from all three levels and defends equally well. As his volume went up, so did his efficiency. He is a great shooter and should see that translate well to the NBA game.
Tough as nails, Coward is a gritty player who is constantly attacking the glass. Despite playing at Eastern Washington and Division 3 Willamette University for the first three years of his career, he is tough and determined and will be able to thrive in any system or environment. At 21, Coward could make an immediate impact. Ultimately, the Spurs would be lucky to snag Coward at pick 14.
Another late draft riser, St Joseph’s Rasheer Fleming, would be an excellent fit in Silver and Black. The unique forward broke out in a big way in 2025 and skyrocketed his draft stock into the lottery.
Fleming could run the break exceedingly well with the Spurs’ quick guards and supply much-needed shooting. Next to Victor Wembanyama, the forward would help form a dominant defensive duo and someone who can block a load of shots. He has all the tools to be a superb, versatile forward to help the Spurs win immediately.
Arizona’s Carter Bryant is a high-upside forward and athletic freak who has all the tools to be an unstoppable 3-and-D threat in the NBA. While his college numbers were low, he earned playing time as the year went on. Furthermore, he excelled in March Madness, catching the eyes of draft scouts. With his size, Bryant also has terrific defense that could be an instant hit in the big league.
On the Spurs, Bryant would instantly fill two significant needs. The Spurs need more perimeter lockdowns and are looking for another reliable shooter. If Bryant can hit his upside, he would fit right in. He may not be available at 14, but the Spurs need to buy into his potential if he is. Overall, Bryant is a dream target for the Spurs at pick 14.
