Raptors could trade another star after OG Anunoby blockbuster

The Toronto Raptors may not be done making moves. After sending OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks on Saturday, they're expected to begin entertaining offers for Pascal Siakam before the Feb. 8 trade deadline.

"Toronto is expected to continue to explore trades involving forward Pascal Siakam, but there are no deals with traction now, sources said," ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski has reported. "Both Siakam and Anunoby could be free agents this summer."

Adding RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley via the Anunoby deal has allowed the Raptors to begin reshaping their roster around Scottie Barnes. The multi-positional talent has emerged as the bedrock of Toronto's franchise over the past three seasons. That talent has led the front office to begin prioritizing moves to fit around his talent and projected development. However, there was a significant crossover between Barnes' skillset and that of Anunoby and Siakam.

Siakam, an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, will likely draw significant interest in the trade market. He's a legitimate wing defender and a reliable three-level scorer. If paired with a top-tier talent, he could be a difference-maker for a contending team. However, it's unlikely the Raptors will allow one of their best players to leave via a low-ball offer.

The addition of Barrett and Quickley has set the baseline for the type of return they will be looking for with a potential Siakam trade. Finding some more young talents who complement Barnes's playing style while also being ready to contribute right away won't be easy. Still, the Raptors have taken the first steps in retooling their roster and giving HC Darko Rajaković the tools he needs to be successful.

More moves will undoubtedly follow, whether that's now or in the offseason will be the question everyone wants answered. Unfortunately, all anyone can do is remain patient and see what unfolds next.
