Raptors Make Scottie Barnes Announcement on Wednesday

When the Toronto Raptors selected Scottie Barnes with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the franchise was betting on a versatile forward who could impact the game in multiple ways. After winning NBA Rookie of the Year in 2022, Barnes steadily developed into the Raptors’ cornerstone.

Over his first four NBA seasons, he’s become one of the league’s most complete players, and remains a crucial contributor on both ends of the floor.

This season marked a major milestone in his career: Barnes earned his second NBA All‑Star selection. He enters the 2026 All‑Star Weekend as the Raptors’ lone representative after being voted an Eastern Conference reserve, a notable honor for a young star continuing to elevate his game.

Now, with the NBA All‑Star Weekend approaching, the Raptors announced an additional honor tied to Barnes’ standout campaign.

“For tonight’s game, Scottie’s jersey will have the NBA All‑Star patch,” the team announced on X, noting the special marking ahead of their home matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

On the court this season, Barnes has been one of Toronto’s most consistent performers, averaging 19.6 points, 8.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game while also being a reliable defensive player this season.

The Raptors have matched that strong individual play with collective success: entering Wednesday’s game, they sit 30‑21 and fourth in the Eastern Conference, on track for their first playoff return after failing to advance for three consecutive years.

Barnes continues to grow into one of the NBA’s rising stars and a franchise centerpiece, and the Raptors will hope he can lead them to a championship one day.
