Raptors Rumors: Conflicting Reports Surround Sasha Vezenkov
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Sasha Vezenkov might be staying with the Toronto Raptors after all.

There are conflicting reports surrounding the newest Raptors’ acquisition.

First it was reported by Christos Harpidis that Vezenkov has decided to return to Europe by signing a multiyear deal with Olympiacos.

However, Sportsnet’s Michael Grange quickly shut down that report saying the Raptors control Vezenkov’s rights and have no intention of waiving him:

The Raptors acquired Vezenkov on June 27 in a deal with the Sacramento Kings that sent Jalen McDaniels to the Kings for Vezenkov, Davion Mitchell, a 2024 second-round pick which Toronto used to select Jamal Shead and a 2025 second-round pick from the Portland Trail Blazers.

There were rumblings about Vezenkov possibly leaving the NBA following his rookie season with the Kings. He didn’t quite find his footing in Sacramento. Vezenkov averaged just 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. He shot 44 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from deep in 42 games this past season.

Vezenkov is set to earn $6.7 million this season with a team option for $7 million next season.

If he does remain with the Raptors, he will help Toronto with their floor-spacing as a three-point shooter from off the bench.

Ja’Kobe Walter & Jonathan Mogbo introduced to Toronto

The Toronto Raptors newest rookies Ja’Kobe Walter and Jonathan Mogbo were officially welcomed to the organization on June 28.

Walter was drafted 19th overall in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft. Meanwhile, Mogbo was taken 31st overall in the second round.

Walter will wear No. 14, while Mogbo will wear No. 2
