The NBA trade deadline has passed and teams are now actively searching the buyout market to upgrade their rosters.

One player that many teams have had interest in is Chris Boucher of the Toronto Raptors as there have been many rumors of his contract possibly being bought out by Toronto. Despite the rumors, it looks as though the Raptors are going to keep Boucher through the end of the season.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Toronto has opted to keep Boucher through the end of the season despite many teams being interested in him due to his expiring contract.

Of course, there was a ton of speculation ahead of the trade deadline that the Raptors would trade Boucher as many teams had shown interest in the 32-year-old forward. They were unable to receive a package they were looking for, which led to them keeping Boucher around past the trade deadline.

Boucher was then expected to be bought out by Toronto due to his contract, and many teams were interested in possibly singing him, including the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers. Instead, Boucher will now finish the season with the Raptors before hitting free agency in the offseason.

This is a surprise move by Toronto, who has had a disappointing season thus far. The Raptors currently sit 13th in the Eastern Conference standings, which has them outside of the playoff picture. Because of this, it was expected that they would move on from Boucher and allow him to sign with a contender, but Stein’s report suggests they will instead hold on to him.

Boucher has been solid for the Raptors this season. He is averaging 10.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 49.1% from the field and 36.5% from three-point range.

With Toronto now keeping the 32-year-old big man, other teams will have to look elsewhere to upgrade their frontcourt.
