The Cleveland Cavaliers have their sights set on success entering the 2025-26 NBA season and have a new outlook.

The Cleveland Cavaliers shocked a lot of people with their performances last season. No one expected them to be the best team in the Eastern Conference.

But that is exactly what they did, as the Cavaliers registered their best NBA record since LeBron James’ departure in 2018.

However, a disappointing playoff exit in the second round ended what had been a great season. Now, as they enter a new season, there is renewed optimism.

The Cavaliers will be strong contenders in a depleted Eastern Conference. And it appears the squad is well aware of their situation and is mentally preparing themselves to dominate.

Cleveland Cavaliers confident about championship ambition

The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking forward to the 2025-26 NBA season. According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the Cavaliers believe they have what it takes.

Fedor mentioned that Kenny Atkinson and the Cavaliers are confident about their chances to compete for a championship. Their experience from last season was the lesson they needed to make a title push.

“Rightfully so, there’s a lot of confidence from Kenny [Atkinson], and there’s a lot of confidence from people inside this organization that the Cavs are ready to compete for a championship.

“And they do believe that they learned what they needed to learn. We’ll see — it has to play itself out. But they do believe they learned what they needed to learn from the latest playoff exit.”

Kenny Atkinson must get the best out of his players

Much like last season, Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson will have to motivate his players the right way.

Atkinson showed that at their best, the Cavaliers can compete with the upper echelon of the NBA. But after a disappointing loss in the playoffs, he will have to do even more to get the best out of his players.

For the most part, stars on the Cavaliers seem very motivated heading into the new season. Evan Mobley backed himself to win MVP next season.

Darius Garland struggled with an injury during the playoffs last season. But that is now behind him, as Garland took big steps to rehab quickly and get into great shape.

If the Cavaliers can capitalize on a weaker Eastern Conference, it’s hard to look past them as NBA Finals favorites.
