Bronny James is getting ready for his second year with the Los Angeles Lakers. Last season, James appeared in just 27 games and spent most of the time with the Lakers’ G-League team, the South Bay Lakers. The son of LeBron James averaged 2.3 points on 31.3 percent shooting from the field and 28.1% from beyond the arc. Although he didn’t have the best rookie year, there was a lot of attention on the No. 55 pick.

For his second season, he’s starting to get ready. He’s been involved with the team’s Summer League team. On Sunday, he played in his first game of the summer and helped the Lakers with a 103-83 victory over the Miami Heat. James had a decent outing for the team and finished with 10 points, two rebounds and a steal on 42.9 percent shooting from the field.

However, it was noticeable that he didn’t spend a lot of time on the floor. The former USC guard was on the floor for only 10:32 minutes. Following the contest, the media had questions to James regarding him playing time.

NBA writer for Lakers Nation, Matthew Peralta, asked James about what the team’s plan is for the number of minutes he’ll play for the Summer League.

“Not necessarily a plan. Just checking in with how I’m feeling after the game and how I’m feeling after those small stints and building on that and upping my minutes a little bit every game. And then conditioning after, so it’s really just how I feel. But I’ve been feeling good so far, so hoping to be in a regular minute rotation for [Tuesday’s] game,” James answered.

Although he didn’t have a terrible outing, the Los Angeles Lakers guard thinks that he isn’t the main offensive weapon for the team. For the 6-foot-1 guard to gain minutes, he knows that he has to step up on the other side of the game.

“There’s gonna be guys that can score 15, 20 a game. I’m most likely not going to be that guy right now… I’ve got to be a defensive menace,” James said.
