The Los Angeles Lakers entered the offseason looking to add some help. They have gotten some in free agency, signing Deandre Ayton, Marcus Smart, and Jake LaRavia, but they lost Dorian Finney-Smith to the Houston Rockets.
Even though they have added some help, their other Western Conference competitors have also loaded up this offseason. That includes the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, and Houston Rockets, all of whom have added valuable players this offseason via trade or free agency.
One player who would help the Lakers on paper is Donte DiVincenzo, an NBA champion who has risen up to become a rotation player on multiple playoff teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
As it turns out, the Lakers were interested in the Minnesota Timberwolves wing. ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel reported that the Lakers had inquired about DiVincenzo, though the Timberwolves were not interested at all in making a trade.
"The Lakers discussed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Donte DiVincenzo as potential trade targets with the Grizzlies and Timberwolves, sources told (ClutchPoints)," Siegel wrote. "KCP talks happened after he was included in the Bane-ORL trade. MIN immediately turned down DiVincenzo talks."

While DiVincenzo appears out of the question, Caldwell-Pope would be intriguing. He is a two-time NBA champion, and one of the titles he won was with the Lakers. He also started every single playoff game they played when they won the title in 2020. He averaged 10.7 points while shooting 37.8% from three.
