Report: 76ers Not Looking To Trade Joel Embiid, Paul George

According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, the Philadelphia 76ers are not looking to trade Joel Embiid or Paul George

The Sixers missed the playoffs this year despite having Embiid, George and Tyrese Maxey. They have the third overall pick in the 2025 draft.

“Sources say Philadelphia greatly values the opportunity to add a young player to its core, which already features 24-year-old Maxey and soon-to-be-second-year guard Jared McCain to complement the veteran duo of Embiid and George,” Fischer wrote.

“Don’t expect that duo, furthermore, to be broken up. Sources say that recent reports suggesting that the Sixers will be looking to explore George’s trade market in conjunction with the draft are a misread. There have been no indications that they are looking to package George with the No. 3 pick or try to move him on his own. The Sixers surely understand that there is little-to-no chance they could optimize a trade return for the 35-year-old after his injury-riddled maiden season as a Sixer … especially with three seasons remaining on George’s max deal.

“It has been whispered often in league circles, going back to Philadelphia’s free agency courtship of George last summer, that the Sixers would not turn around and try to move their marquee acquisition in the early stages of his Philly tenure unless George asked for a deal himself.”

George struggled in his first season with the Sixers after signing a lucrative four-year, $211 million contract with the franchise last summer. The veteran averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists this season in 41 games.

Embiid appeared in only 19 games this season. He averaged 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists. The former MVP underwent arthroscopic left knee surgery in April.

Philadelphia has never advanced past the second round of the playoffs in the Embiid era. Embiid has played with Ben Simmons, Jimmy Butler, James Harden, Maxey and George.
