Report: Cam Reddish listed questionable for Knicks-Pacers preseason game

Cam Reddish couldn’t get a break.

The New York Knicks forward sat out Thursday’s New York Knicks‘ practice and is questionable to play Friday night against the Indiana Pacers after sustaining an ankle injury in a freak accident, per multiple reports.

Reddish appeared to have tripped himself on the foot of a game official during the Knicks’ 117-96 win over Detroit Pistons Wednesday night at the Garden.

Reddish came out in his first game since a shoulder injury like a man on a mission, firing a three-pointer for his first basket — and lone field goal — and a beautiful feed to RJ Barrett in transition. Then it went downhill as he missed his next five shots and went down with the injury.

It couldn’t come at the worst time, as Reddish is fighting for a spot in the Knicks’ stacked rotation.

Despite a bad shooting night, Reddish played hard on defense, contesting three shots and had a deflection. He added one rebound and one block to his three points and one assist, and more importantly, the Knicks outscored the Pistons by seven points when he was on the floor.

Reddish joins Quentin Grimes (left foot soreness) on the sidelines.

But the Knicks are encouraged that the swelling in Reddish’s ankle is limited, according to NY Daily News’ Stefan Bondy.

Both Reddish and Grimes are considered day-to-day. Meanwhile, third-string center Jericho Sims (groin) is also questionable to play.

Injuries have derailed Reddish’s chances to have a meaningful role with the Knicks. Reddish was on the verge of a breakout with the Knicks last season when a shoulder injury cut it short.
