Report: Clippers' Paul George out for another few weeks

Paul George's return to the floor will have to wait a little bit longer.

George will be sidelined for a few more weeks as he recovers from an elbow injury, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. George has been out since late December after tearing the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

After initially being diagnosed with a sprained elbow on Dec. 6, George missed five games before returning, but reported further elbow pain after just two appearances. An MRI was conducted that discovered the UCL tear, and an initial timetable of 3-4 weeks recovery was established before being extended further on Tuesday.

The Clippers were already without one of their star players in Kawhi Leonard went George went down, and have struggled a bit as a result. They entered Tuesday in eighth place in the Western Conference at 22-23, and are 5-8 since George's injury.

In his third season in Los Angeles, George is averaging 24.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game on 42.1 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from 3-point range. His averages are the best they've been with the Clippers, but his shooting splits have taken a bit of a dip.

The Clippers acquired George and Leonard during 2019 free agency, with George coming via trade from the Thunder. He was drafted 10th overall out of Fresno State in 2010 by the Pacers, with whom he played the first seven years of his career with before jumping to Oklahoma City and Los Angeles.
