Report: Clippers primed to trade player unhappy with role

On Monday afternoon, The Los Angeles Times' Andrew Greif reported that forward Marcus Morris is unhappy with how the Clippers utilized him to end the year, likely causing both parties to split during the offseason.

Morris' stance is unique, considering he wasn't very productive on the floor, averaging merely 11 points on 42.6% shooting this past season. He also started the majority of the year over players such as Nico Batum and Robert Covington — both of which are arguably better options offensively and defensively — making Morris' unhappiness confusing.

Greif added that the low minutes for Covington in favor of Morris, in particular, stood out in the locker room, as one player called Convignton's usage a "mystery."

With the Clippers being tied to Chris Paul recently, Morris may land in D.C.. According to Spotrac, Paul is projected to make nearly $31M in 2023-'24, making Morris' expiring contract an enticing option for the Wizards.

In four seasons with Los Angeles, Morris fit well next to stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George — shooting a healthy 39.4% from deep as a Clipper. However, he'll likely be playing for another team next season, as Morris and the team don't see eye to eye.
