Report: Four-time All-Star C DeMarcus Cousins signs 10-day contract with Nuggets

It was reported almost two weeks ago that the Denver Nuggets were meeting with 12th-year pro DeMarcus Cousins to look at signing the big man to a 10-day contract. It seems that the deal will finally be coming to fruition on Friday.

When Denver made a trade earlier this week to acquire Bryn Forbes, it opened up a roster spot, leading to the Cousins' signing. The four-time All-Star played 17 games with the Milwaukee Bucks earlier this season, averaging 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 16.9 minutes per contest.

The Nuggets will be Cousins' seventh NBA team and sixth in the last six seasons. He was drafted fifth overall by the Sacramento Kings in 2010 and spent the first six-plus seasons with the franchise, being named first team All-Rookie, making three All-Star teams and earning second team All-NBA honors twice.

Cousins was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in February 2017 and stayed with the organization until he signed with the Golden State Warriors in July 2018. The 31-year-old signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in July 2019, but missed the entire 2019-2020 campaign due to a torn ACL.

He played 41 combined games between the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers last season. In his 623-game career, Cousins has averaged a double-double of 20.1 points and 10.4 rebounds, while adding 3.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per game as well.
