Brooks was selected by the Houston Rockets with the 45th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, but was traded to Memphis in exchange for a 2018 second-round pick. He played in all 82 games — starting 74 of them — during his rookie season, averaging 11.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 28.7 minutes per contest.
The 25-year-old was limited to just 18 games during the 2018-2019 campaign, after suffering a ruptured ligament in his toe. He bounced back over the last two seasons, starting all 73 games he played in during the 2019-20 campaign and all 67 contests last year, increasing his scoring output to 16.2 and then 17.2 points per game.
Through his first 21 games (20 starts) this season, Brooks has averaged career-highs in points per game (18.4), rebounds per game (3.3), assists per game (2.7) and steals per game (1.3), while shooting a career-best 42.6% from the field and 88.9% from the free-throw line.
The Grizzlies are currently on an eight-game winning streak and placed fourth in the Western Conference at 27-14.
