Report: Kawhi Leonard still angry over Tony Parker’s critical comments
Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Kawhi Leonard seems to have a lot of points of contention with the San Antonio Spurs, and Tony Parker apparently didn’t help matters any.

Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN report that Leonard, who met with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich in San Diego on Tuesday, remains “irate” about the public comments that Parker made about his quad injury. Leonard allegedly feels that Parker’s remarks were not supportive of him. The report also cites the Spurs’ supposed mishandling of the injury and Popovich’s own comments on the matter as issues that also drew Leonard’s ire.

Parker, who has been teammates with Leonard for the latter’s entire career (including an NBA title in 2014), seemed to cast doubt on the severity of Leonard’s injury in March when he compared it to his own quad ailment.

The 36-year-old Parker’s comments definitely seemed odd at the time. Now it seems that they may have also helped push Leonard over the edge in wanting out of San Antonio.
