Report: Kevin Durant Hasn’t Requested Trade From Suns

According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Kevin Durant hasn’t requested a trade from the Phoenix Suns.

Who Phoenix hires as its next head coach will play a role in Durant’s future with the franchise.

“As we have been reporting at ClutchPoints since April, it is not a given that Durant will be traded this offseason,” Siegel wrote. “The former MVP has not explicitly told Suns owner Mat Ishbia or executive James Jones that he wants to be moved, and who Phoenix ultimately hires as their next head coach will play a role in his future with the franchise, sources said. Keep an eye on Johnnie Bryant, James Borrego, and Chris Quinn as the Suns enter the later rounds of their coaching search.”

Durant, 36, has one year left on his contract. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from 3 and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

One of the best players in NBA history, Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He’s a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP and a four-time scoring champion.

The Suns missed the playoffs this year despite having Durant, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker. Mike Budenholzer was fired as head coach after just one season.

Durant has been linked to the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs in trade rumors. It will be fascinating to see if the Texas product stays with the Suns or is traded this summer.
