According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Kevin Durant staying with the Phoenix Suns “has not been fully ruled out.”
Durant, 36, has one year left on his contract.
The Suns missed the playoffs this year despite having Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. Mike Budenholzer was fired as head coach after just one season.
“Phoenix has not yet initiated any trade bidding for its superstar forward,” Fischer wrote. “It has been widely anticipated that Durant, who turns 37 in September, will be back on the trade market this summer in the wake of the Suns’ myriad trade explorations involving No. 35 leading up to February’s in-season trade deadline. A return to the desert next season, though, has not been fully ruled out.”
Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from 3 and 83.9% from the free-throw line.
One of the greatest players in NBA history, Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He’s a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP and a four-time scoring champion.
Durant has been linked to the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs in trade rumors. It will be fascinating to see if the Texas product stays with the Suns or is traded this summer.
