Report: Knicks' Donovan Mitchell trade talks 'stalled out'

Report: Knicks' trade talks with Jazz on Donovan Mitchell 'have stalled out'

Earlier this month, news broke that the Utah Jazz were listening to offers for star guard Donovan Mitchell. Soon after, suitors, including the New York Knicks, emerged.

A little more than two weeks later, discussions between the Knicks and Jazz surrounding Mitchell appear to be over, for the time being.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, trade talks have "stalled out."

"As of right now, sources tell me that talks between the Jazz and the Knicks around a Donovan Mitchell trade have stalled out."

"I'm told there hasn't been contact between the two sides in roughly the last two weeks," Charania said Thursday. "This is right now, this is current, these things can always be fluid, but this is where things stand right now."

With the Knicks in the rear-view for now, Charania reports that Utah is continuing to negotiate with other interested teams, including the Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards.

Last season for the Jazz, Mitchell averaged 25.9 points, 5.3 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 67 games.

Mitchell has four years remaining on a five-year, $163 million deal agreed upon ahead of the 2021-22 season. He's due to make $30.6 million next season.

A three-time All-Star, Mitchell has averaged 23.9 points, 4.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals over five seasons in the NBA.
