Report: Los Angeles Lakers Expected to Make Staggering Darvin Ham Decision ‘By the End of the Week’
Jason Parkhurst-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers have yet to announce their decision on Darvin Ham’s future with the team. After his second season with the squad ended with a gutting 4-1 opening-round loss to the Denver Nuggets, the general consensus is that Ham is now on his way out.

The Lakers have been biding their time. However, according to a new report, it appears that a decision is imminent.

Los Angeles Lakers News: Darvin Ham Expected to Be Fired This Week

Speaking on a recent episode of The Athletic NBA Show podcast, Lakers insider Jovan Buha dropped a bombshell about Ham’s future in Hollywood. Apparently, the 50-year-old has just a few more days remaining as LA’s head coach:

“The latest I’ve heard is the plan is still to move on from Darvin [Ham] at some point, likely by the end of the week, potentially as early as tomorrow, then the head coaching search will start. I’ve already started to hear some names from different people,” Buha said (h/t BASKETBALL ON X).

To be fair to Ham, he did lead the Lakers to the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament title. It is clear, however, that the Lakers brass do not consider this achievement to be significant enough for him to keep his job.

As Buha hinted, there will be more than a few names out there that will emerge as potential replacements for Ham if and when he gets the axe. What you can be sure of, though, is that the front office won’t be making their choice without LeBron James‘ blessing.
