Julius Randle had one of the better seasons of his pro career after being in a trade last offseason to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He’ll now be staying with the franchise moving forward on a longer-term deal per reporting on Sunday.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Randle will be signing a three-year, $100 million contract to remain with the Timberwolves. He’ll be declining his current player option with the team in order to do with this new deal having another player option as part of it for ’27-’28.

“BREAKING: Three-time NBA All-Star Julius Randle intends to sign a new three-year, $100 million deal to stay with the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources tell ESPN. The deal includes a player option for the 2027-28 season,” Charania tweeted this afternoon.

Randle posted 18.7 points (48.5% FG, 34.4% 3PT on 1.6 makes), 7.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game this season for Minnesota. He’d lead the team in assists while being second in scoring, rebounds, field-goal percentage, and turnovers.

With that, Randle paired well alongside Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, and the rest of the roster for the ‘Wolves as Minnesota went 49-33 and made a second consecutive appearance in the Western Conference Finals, losing both series at 4-1 respectively to the Dallas Mavericks in 2024 and the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2025. He’d have his best outing in the postseason of his career by averaging 21.7 points (50.2% FG, 38.5% 3PT on 2.0 makes), 5.9 rebounds, and 4.9 assists during that run in the NBA Playoffs.

Minnesota, with this signing, looks to be running it back again for next season. Randle will be back with the team as Naz Reid reportedly will be as well with Charania reporting on Friday that he will be signing a five-year, $125 million deal, with a player option, of his own. They will be back alongside Edwards, Gobert, and the Wolves’ remaining players in hopes of having another great season in the Western Conference and trying to make it that one round further in The Finals.

Randle has been a productive forward in the league over the dozen years in his career, especially since the turn of the decade with New York and Minnesota. He’ll now spend two or three more seasons with the Timberwolves upon his signing of this new deal with the franchise.
