Report: Multiple teams interested in Domantas Sabonis if Kings decide to pivot

If the Kings decide to shake things up, Domantas Sabonis won’t be short on suitors.

That’s the word from The Athletic’s Sam Amick, who said on SacTown Sports that several teams have already “raised their hand” about the three-time All-Star should Sacramento open the door to a move.

Amick added that he hasn’t heard that same level of interest regarding Zach LaVine, whose contract has been notoriously tough to move.

Sabonis, 29, is in Year 1 of a four-year extension that pays him $42.3 million this season and climbs to $48.6 million by 2027–28.

Even with a slower start — 15.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists through nine games — he’s still one of the league’s most productive bigs and has led the NBA in rebounding three straight seasons.

The Kings, sitting at 3–9, suddenly feel like a team at a crossroads. Do they retool around Sabonis and Keegan Murray and try to salvage the season, or do they lean into a strong 2026 draft class?

Either path puts Sabonis front and center, because he’s both valuable to them and extremely valuable to the rest of the league.

LaVine, meanwhile, remains the tougher piece to move. He’s making $47.5 million with a $49 million player option on deck, and the Bulls spent months trying to find a taker before finally sending him to Sacramento in a three-team deal last February.

Amick also said the Kings were “comfortable” handing Murray a five-year rookie extension before the season, noting that the former No. 4 pick holds strong value leaguewide.

Murray hasn’t played yet after thumb surgery, but Sacramento views him as a long-term pillar. And apparently, so do other teams.
