Two-time All-NBA guard Devin Booker has agreed to a two-year, $145 million maximum contract extension with the Phoenix Suns through the 2029-30 season, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday night. It is the highest annual extension salary in NBA history.
The four-time NBA All-Star has spent his entire 10-year career in Phoenix, boasting career averages of 24.4 points, 5.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds.
“Booker and Suns owner Mat Ishbia met Wednesday night in Las Vegas to finalize the contract, which cements the franchise’s leader of the organization moving forward and his commitment to the Suns’ vision for the future,” Charania said.

Coming out of Moss Point (Grand Rapids, MI), Booker was ranked the No. 24 player in the Class of 2014. He was just one of many future NBA players in Kentucky‘s 2014 class, joined by New York Knicks forward Karl-Anthony Towns, nine-year NBA veteran Trey Lyles and 2016 SEC Player of the Year Tyler Ulis.
After averaging 10.0 points in 38 games at Kentucky, the Grand Rapids native was selected with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns. As July 9, 2025, Booker is the lone player from the entire Draft still with the team that selected him.
Booker has certainly left his stamp on the franchise, as he is currently the Phoenix Suns’ all-time leader in points (16,452) and three-point field goals (1,424). The Suns made the Playoffs in four consecutive seasons from 2021-2024 and even jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 2021 NBA Finals, but dropped the next four games to the Milwaukee Bucks.
“I’m proud of him,” former Kentucky coach John Calipari said in 2023. “He’s proven defensively he’s got a toughness, a swagger to him. I knew he was going to be good, but he’s even better than I thought he’d be.”
He is now set to remain in Phoenix, a franchise that has seemingly hit the reset button this season. After a tumultuous 2024-25 season in which the Suns finished with a 36-46 record and missed the NBA Playoffs, management traded Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets and are currently looking to move on from Bradley Beal.
For now however, Booker will continue to anchor the franchise into the near future. He will be instrumental, alongside new head coach Jordan Ott, in attempting to get the franchise back on track in search of its first ever NBA Championship.
