Report Reveals Which 2 Teams Will Pursue Kevin Durant in Summer

The Phoenix Suns missed the playoffs this year despite having Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. Mike Budenholzer was fired as head coach after just one season at the helm, just like Frank Vogel.

Phoenix nearly traded Durant to the Golden State Warriors in February before the forward made it known behind the scenes he didn't want to return to the Warriors, who acquired Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat after finding out Durant wasn't interested in a reunion. The 15-time All-Star turns 37 in the fall. He has one year left on his contract.

Now, the Suns and Durant are anticipated to work together on a trade this summer and one report has revealed which two teams are expected to pursue the future Hall of Famer.

According to NBA insiders Jake Fischer and Marc Stein, the Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to show trade interest in Durant, who will make $54.7 million next season. The Heat and Timberwolves tried to acquire Durant at the February trade deadline.

Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from 3 and 83.9% from the free-throw line. He doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract like Beal does.

Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He's a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP and a four-time scoring champion.

Durant hasn't gotten back to the NBA Finals since leaving the Warriors in 2019. He's also been swept in the first round of the playoffs twice.

It will be fascinating to see where Durant is playing next season. Most NBA observers don't expect the Texas product to be in a Suns uniform.
