According to NBA insiders Jake Fischer and Marc Stein, the Houston Rockets are unlikely to pursue a Kevin Durant trade this summer.
The Phoenix Suns are widely expected to trade Durant this offseason.
With the 52-win Rockets soon to open a playoff series against Golden State, sources tell @JakeLFischer and me a Houston pursuit of Durant is even “less likely” than previously thought.
Phoenix today acknowledged KD could be dealt this offseason.

The Rockets are the second seed in the Western Conference playoffs. They won 52 games this season and will face the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the 2025 playoffs.
Durant has one year left on his contract. He turns 37 in September.
The Suns went only 36-46 this season despite having Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. Mike Budenholzer was fired as head coach after one season, just like Frank Vogel was canned after one year in the desert.
One of the best scorers in NBA history, Durant is still an elite player. He averaged 26.6 points this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.
Sources told Hoops Wire that the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs will pursue Durant this summer. Durant doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract, but the Suns are expected to trade the forward to a team he wants to play for.
“Kevin Durant is a top-three name in this league,” one high-ranking NBA official told ESPN. “I can see a team who’d love to have him for a season just to sell tickets.”
Durant has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He’s one of the most decorated players in NBA history. KD has made 15 All-Star teams and 11 All-NBA teams. He’s a two-time champion, a two-time Finals MVP, a one-time MVP and a four-time scoring champion.
Durant will get traded this summer. That’s pretty much a guarantee at this point.
Only time will tell where the Texas product is playing in 2025-26.
