Report: Spurs looking to move into top 10 of 2021 NBA Draft

The San Antonio Spurs own the No. 12 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. However, they are reportedly looking to move up.

According to Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrated, the Spurs would like to move into the top 10. However, they could very well stick with the 12th overall selection.

"Sources say the Spurs have angled to move up in the draft and into the top 10," Woo wrote in a mock draft. "They have historically been content to stand pat on draft night, however, and the better bet may be San Antonio making a pick here."

The Spurs finished 10th in the Western Conference last season with a 33-39 record, missing the playoffs for the second straight year after losing to the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in tournament. Before the 2019-20 campaign, the Spurs had made 22 consecutive postseason appearances.

In its latest mock draft, The Athletic has the Spurs selecting Trey Murphy 12th overall.

"He can really shoot the ball," The Athletic writes. "He's a good defender both on and off the ball. Maybe his only big issue right away is strength, because he's slight of build."

The 21-year-old averaged 11.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game last season with Virginia while shooting 50.3% from the field and 43.3% from deep.

In addition to Murphy, Josh Giddey and Moses Moody have been linked to the Spurs leading up to the draft.
