The offseason is shaping up to be a blockbuster for LeBron James as he prepares to enter unrestricted free agency. While he’s keeping everyone guessing until July or August, the chatter around his future is already heating up.

While some discussions hinted that James stay and run it back with the Los Angeles Lakers for another run, buzz is growing around other potential suitors. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors have been mentioned as frontrunners, but a new player has emerged in the mix: the Washington Wizards.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson has reported that the Wizards are strategically positioning themselves as a wildcard candidate in the LeBron sweepstakes.

“The gravity of Washington’s pitch centers around Anthony Davis. It is no secret around the league that Davis and James remain incredibly close friends. However, Davis has been noticeably non-committal publicly regarding his long-term desire to stay in Washington,” Robinson wrote in his recent reports.

Robinson reports that the Wizards’ strategy mainly revolves around Anthony Davis. The strong bond between James and Davis is well known, but there’s uncertainty about Davis’s long-term commitment to the Wizards. With the pressure to keep their star player happy, the Wizards are exploring ways to make a big splash.

Robinson reported that Trae Young has been vocal behind the scenes, actively encouraging Davis to commit. Young believes that with the talent currently on the roster and potential future additions, the Wizards could shake up the competitive Eastern Conference. The prospect of reuniting James and Davis alongside Young could fundamentally alter the dynamics in the East overnight.

NBA’s 65-Game Rule Prevents LeBron James From Continuing Historic Streak

LeBron James has redefined longevity in the NBA, but injuries this season have sidelined him and snapped some remarkable streaks. For the first time in over 20 years, the basketball legend finds himself off the All-NBA team, playing just 60 games and missing the 65-game threshold for eligibility.

But that’s not the only streak that broke this season. On December 4, 2025, in a game against the Toronto Raptors, his incredible run of double-digit scoring in 1,297 consecutive regular-season games came to an end.

With only two points needed to keep the streak alive, James made the selfless choice to pass to Rui Hachimura in the dying seconds. Hachimura hit a buzzer-beater three-pointer, sealing a thrilling 123-120 victory for the Lakers.
