Trae Young frustrated with lack of help on Hawks?
Erik Williams-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been very tough sledding for Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young lately, and that frustration has reportedly boiled over at times.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Young recently had an “emotional locker room scene” following a recent loss, and frustration has been mounting within the organization over the course of the team’s 6-17 start to the year.

The situation is significant enough that, on Wednesday, one high-ranking Atlanta official assured Young that the team was working to get him some help.

Young has been doing his part, at least on offense. Through 22 games, the 21-year-old is averaging 28.8 points and 8.4 assists per game. The big issue stems from a lack of depth around him, further exacerbated by John Collins’ 25-game drug suspension. The good news is that Collins is due to return in two weeks.

The second-year guard is a competitive and ambitious guy. It’s not remotely surprising that playing on a losing team is immensely frustrating to him, and as long as it doesn’t turn toxic, it’s probably a positive personality trait for an NBA star.
