Report: Warriors C James Wiseman out for season

There is some unfortunate news for the Golden State Warriors on the James Wiseman injury front.

Wiseman is out for the rest of the season, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Friday. The news comes after we learned Wiseman suffered a setback in his recovery from a knee injury.

Wiseman underwent surgery last April to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. He was initially expected to return in January, but that timetable was pushed back. Wiseman needed an additional surgery in December.

The former No. 2 overall draft pick was cleared to play with Golden State’s G-League team earlier this month and performed well. He appeared to be close to a return, but then he recently suffered a setback as swelling occurred in his knee.

Wiseman played in 39 games as a rookie last season, averaging 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 21.4 minutes per game. Now he is losing his entire second season due to last year’s injury.
